Class Descriptions

The pre-requisite for each level is the successful demonstration of the preceding level, except for Level 1.  

Each level is outlined below:

Starfish

Level 1 – Introduction to Water/Fundamental Aquatic Skills (ages 3 and up)
Participants learn to: Enter and exit water safely, float on front and back (unsupported), submerge face & retrieve objects, explore swimming on front and back, explore arm and hand movements, push off independently into front glide, back glide independently, follow basic safety rules.

Eels

Level 2 – Stroke Development Participants learn to:  Glide on front and back proficiently, retrieve objects, swim on front and back using crawl strokes, rhythmic breathing, jump in and swim to side independently.

Dolphin

Level 3 – Stroke Improvement Participants learn to:  Front crawl with rotary breathing, back crawl, elementary backstroke, whip kick on front and back, dive from kneeling position, reaching assists.

Shark

Level 4 – Swimming & Skill Proficiency Participants learn to:  Refine front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke.  Learn scissor kick and sidestroke, breaststroke, dive from standing position, throwing assists.

Mommy & me

For infants/children between 6 months and three years old accompanied by a parent.  This class is designed as an introduction to water.  Games, songs, and activities are used along with instruction to help children be comfortable in the water.
In this class we cover floating on tummy and back, blowing bubbles, holding breath and going under the water, kicking on tummy and back, safe entry & exit, and water orientation skills.
